Minnesota requires you to take the course final exam for pre-license online courses under the supervision of a proctor. We are currently offering a remote proctoring option for our students. Complete details for the proctoring process are included within the course. You may re-take the course final exam online as many times as necessary to pass it. If you do need to retake your final exam, ask your proctor if there is time to begin the exam again during your current session, or if you will need to reschedule for another session.
Review the proctor details in advance
, along with information about remote proctoring.
After you pass the online final exam and we receive your proctor’s exam documentation, we will issue you the course completion certificate. This certificate must be presented at the testing center to take the Minnesota state license exam.
Although everything you'll need to know for the state license exam is in our Wisconsin to Minnesota Reciprocity Pre-License Course
, we highly recommend our optional Exam Prep Course
. The license exam is VERY difficult, and the Exam Prep course will reinforce, and help you remember, key principles you might find on the license exam.
The state information is presented first, so you may complete only the state portion of the exam prep course to prepare for the state-specific licensing exam. You’ll also receive exam-taking tips, and get lots of practice with sample questions to help you prepare for the challenging license exam.
The Exam Prep course is included with your purchase of the prelicense course!
After you pass the reciprocity course final exam, your proctor will provide an affidavit to us, and we will email you a PDF copy of your completion certificate, which you'll need to bring to the PSI testing site in order to take the state license exam.
You will take one licensing exam, covering Minnesota-specific laws and practices. If you do not pass the exam, you have to wait until the next business day to schedule a retake.
For directions to testing centers, information about making an appointment, detailed information about the license exam, and a downloadable Candidate Handbook
, visit Pearson VUE
After receiving the completion certificate for the 13-hour reciprocity course, and passing the Minnesota state licensing exam, you may apply for your Minnesota Real Estate Salesperson or Broker license. Go to the Minnesota Department of Commerce's website
for details on the application process and fee.
Please note: To obtain a nonresident license through reciprocity, you MUST provide a Letter of Certification, no more than 90 days old, documenting that you are currently licensed as a salesperson in Wisconsin to the Minnesota Department of Commerce.
Application Deadlines: MN Statute 82.58
Subd. 5. Period for application.
An applicant who obtains an acceptable score on a salesperson's examination must file an application and obtain the license within one year
of the date of successful completion of the examination or a second examination must be taken to qualify for the license.
Subd. 3. Application for broker’s license.
After successful completion of the real estate broker's examination, an individual shall have one year from the date of the examination
to apply for a broker's license, unless the individual is a salesperson who remains continuously active in the real estate field as a licensee. Failure to apply for the broker's license or to remain continuously active in the real estate field will necessitate a reexamination.
